Magdalena Verdugo
Executive Director/Superintendent - Calli Ollin Academy - Latina
Magdalena Verdugo graduated from Tolleson Union High School, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1989 and a Master's in Education in Administrative Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 1995. Magdalena began her career in the education field as a Vocational Counselor for at-risk high school students in 1991. Magdalena's involvement with youth continued with her coordination of after-school and summer youth programs for Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. In 1996, Magdalena became the Director and Principal of Calli Ollin Academy, Inc. a non-profit charter high school in Tucson, Arizona. In July 2002, Magdalena became the Executive Director and Superintendent of Calli Ollin Academy the charter holder for Calli Ollin Academy, Toltecalli Academy and Itzcalli Academy. Magdalena has strengthened her leadership role by serving on numerous boards and advisory committees over the years. She is the former Vice President of the Arizona Charter Schools Association. Magdalena currently serves as charter school representative on the State Board for Charter Schools, Committee Member to the Wells Fargo Teacher Partner Program. Magdalena believes strongly in teaching children by emphasizing their cultural heritage and believes that this gives them the tools necessary to become successful.

Vicente R. Fuentes, Jr.
Vicente R. Fuentes, Jr. BA Human Services/ Director of Academic Services

Mr. Fuentes has worked with youth for more than fifteen years, beginning at El Camino College in Torrance, California, helping to organize tours for middle and high school students from area schools. Through the years, Mr. Fuentes has been involved in many high school outreach efforts to get inner city high school students to visualize life after high school and aspire to post-secondary goals, volunteering with many organizations including Chicanos Por La Causa, LULAC, Pima Community College, and Nosotros Social Services.

Mr. Fuentes oversees the daily operations of the advising departments of our three schools. Further, Mr. Fuentes is charged with assessment coordination and developing the advising program for Calli Ollin Schools.

Ryan Larkin-Smith
Ryan Larkin-Smith Director of Special Education Services Calli Ollin Academy Schools. Ryan graduated Magna Sum Laude from Northern Arizona University in May 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Education with dual major in Special Education and Elementary Education. Upon graduation he took a special education teaching position on the island of Saipan in the Northern Marianna's Islands. In 1997 he returned to the main land taking a position with Tuba City Public Schools in Tuba City Arizona where he taught special education for one year then took the Assistant Special Education Director position in charge of the secondary high incidence programs. In August of 1999 Ryan moved to Tucson and took a teaching position at Canyon Del Oro High School teaching Special Education English and Social Studies. In June of 2001 Ryan left education to pursue a career in the financial services with Farmers Financial services. However, after a year in the business world, he found that he was missing education. In September of 2002, Ryan accepted the position of Director of Special Education Services with Calli Ollin Academy Schools. Ryan is supported in his career by his wife Betsy and two children Liam and Ryianna.

Rosalia Garcia
Ms. Garcia a former Calli Ollin Student/ Graduate and now Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. This is Ms. Garcia's third year working for Calli Ollin. Rosalia has been invloved in the CPLC Organization since 1997 where she was a Xinachtli, Corazon de Aztlan participant, and Volunteer for Chicanos Por La Causa.
